Holotropic Breathwork™ is a powerful and transformational breathwork method of using non-ordinary states for self-exploration, personal transformation & healing. It is based on insights from modern consciousness research, depth psychology, Eastern perspectives & various spiritual practices. It was developed by Stanislav Grof, M.D. & Christina Grof, leading pioneers in the field of transpersonal psychology.
A highly experiential method, Holotropic Breathwork combines breathing, evocative music, focused release bodywork, mandala drawing & group sharing. By activating the unconscious and mobilizing blocked energies, this work gives us access to all levels of human experience and activates the spontaneous healing potential of the psyche.
The basic premise is that we all have a deeper knowledge/wisdom that lies beneath our “left-brain, thinking mind.” If we can “get out of our own way” and allow that deeper wisdom to come forth, positive things happen. Just as your body will instinctually move to heal a cut, your psyche also will instinctually guide you towards healing, or growth – if you allow it to.
In Indonesia, Holotropic BreathworkTM was first done by David in 1994 in Carita Beach, West Java. Joyce was the first Indonesian to experience Holotropic Breathwork.
Through the years, David has carried out Holotropic Breathwork(TM) in special situations for small groups in various places across Indonesia, to include East Java (Surabaya and Malang), Bali, Papua (Jayapura and Nabire), Jakarta, West Java (Bogor), North Sumatra (Bogor), and even Aceh at the tip of Sumatra after the destruction caused by the tsunami in 2005. Holotropic Breathwork(TM) has been an effective tool for healing the trauma experienced by the local people. As David's wife, Joyce continued to be by his side facilitating every single breathwork session ever carried out in Indonesia, making her the only Indonesian trained through practice, minus the certification.
In YAKITA drug addiction treatment and recovery community center, Holotropic Breathwork(TM) has been part of therapy for those in treatment at YAKITA. Other groups include people who are health workers from Non Government Organizations, because we believe that it is important to heal the healers.
This website was built in May 2011, to make it known to people that Holotropic Breathwork is alive in Indonesia.

we already have announcements about workshops planned on this day in many countries, including several states in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Uruquay, Russia, Dubai, Spain, Australia, Italy, and others. We want to explore if the simultaneous experience of non-ordinary states of consciousness in so many people might have a broader impact.
Yes, Stan and Christina. Absolutely! Count Indonesia in !
Happy Birthday to you two. So this site is dedicated to the two of you from the two of us in Indonesia.
